What is Musigy?
Our technology makes it possible for people to make live music together over the Internet.
Just plug in your guitar, keyboard, microphone or whatever you’ve got, and make music with
other members of the Musigy community. It’s as if you’re in the same room! You see each other
on a video screen and play in synch. Musigy Maker offers high-quality sound and ultra-low delays.
And best of all, it’s free!
The Birth of Musigy
It all began in 2004 in a dormitory at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Roommates
Stan Vonog and Nick Surin were playing Radiohead's “No Surprises” on their guitars, drinking beer,
and figuring out how to play together after graduation, when they’d be living in distant cities.
After more talk (and more beer) they began to envision a world of music with no geographic barriers
– where people can meet online and collaborate in real time; where bands can rehearse and audition
– even when members are in different locations; and where teachers can conduct real-time music lessons
online.
Award-Winning Technology
Stan and Nick assembled a team to develop Musigy’s cutting edge technology. In 2005, it won first place
in the Imagine Cup. Sponsored by
Microsoft, the Imagine Cup is the world's largest student technology competition.
Word of Musigy’s success traveled. Soon, Stan and Nick met Vlad Kuznetsov from Silicon Valley (where
Musigy is now headquartered). In 2006, Vlad joined as CEO and co-founder.
Today, the team is growing and the technology improving. Musigy has demonstrated the power of its vision
at several huge events: During a
New Years 2007 live broadcast on Russian National TV, 50 million viewers cheered as Musigy enabled
musicians in Moscow to play with musicians in Georgia — 1,000 miles away. Musigy also enabled
“Jazz@the Speed of Light,” where world-famous jazz stars performed
together from different locations thousands of miles apart.
After testing and proving our technology, we now offer it for free so that EVERYONE CAN MAKE MUSIGY.
We’re tremendously excited about the world community that Musigy makes possible, with new connections forming,
new music happening, and new stars emerging.
